He’s held several leadership roles at NFP since 1999, including chief operating officer and general counsel, and has over two decades’ experience in executive management, operations, underwriting and law. Doug’s committed to building exceptional leadership teams that embody NFP’s dedication to trust, transparency and communication, and to delivering clients a broader range of high-quality solutions. In 2013, he led NFP’s pivotal $1.4 billion go-private transaction with Madison Dearborn Partners LLC (MDP), a leading private equity firm. In early 2017, Doug led a recapitalization of NFP with HPS Investment Partners, which valued NFP at over $3 billion. This transaction provides NFP with significant opportunities for future growth. Prior to NFP, Doug practiced corporate insurance law at a national firm, where he represented NFP’s founding capital partner before and during its startup phase. Doug is a member of the MDP Financial Services Advisory Board and serves on the board of directors of Kestra Financial Inc., one of the largest retail independent broker-dealers in the U.S. He’s also a member of the Board of Trustees at Fairfield University and serves on the Advisory Council of the Dolan School of Business of Fairfield University. In addition, he co-authored Reinsurance Law, a leading subscription treatise on reinsurance practice and legal trends. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Fairfield University and his Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law.

Mike directs initiatives that allow NFP to strategically expand within an extremely efficient, regionalized operating structure. To ensure that NFP offers the most complete services possible to clients, he’s highly involved in bringing in new acquisitions and guiding the seamless integration of their employees and unique skill sets. Mike came to NFP in 2001, as executive vice president of Mergers & Acquisitions. Prior to NFP, he worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions department of the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Yale University and Juris Doctor from Columbia University School of Law.
President, Corporate Benefits and Individual Solutions
Ed directs the financial performance and operational progress of Corporate Benefits and Life Insurance, as well as NFP’s two flagship membership organizations, PartnersFinancial and Benefits Partners. Part of the company since 2002, he efficiently aligns people, services and products across six regions, enabling NFP advisors to stretch the expectations of customer relationships with competitive tools and a consistent, highly personalized experience. Prior to NFP, Ed launched vSimplify, a benefits administration technology company. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Cincinnati.
Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, NFP Property & Casualty
Terry is focused on increasing commercial and personal insurance capabilities through acquisitions and integrated selling across the organization. With over 30 years of insurance experience, he guides P&C employees and offices across the U.S. in revenue-driving initiatives backed by best practices, technology developments and regional collaboration. Prior to NFP, Terry was CEO of Lapre Scali & Company Insurance Services, which NFP acquired in 2011. He also established and managed Milne Scali & Company Insurance Services, which he sold to BNC National Bank, where he was president and CEO of Insurance Operations. He earned his Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of Arizona.
Executive Vice President, Corporate Development
An integral part of NFP since 2001, Eric guides integrated sales efforts across all NFP regions. His team’s goal is to ensure that every client gets the best possible experience across the full NFP spectrum. More than a corporate development expert, he’s led the award-winning NFP Marketing department since 2012. Eric previously served as NFP’s senior vice president of Business Development, focusing on corporate operations and strategic investments. Before that, he advised NFP offices on strategic growth opportunities as senior vice president of Strategic Initiatives and senior vice president of Marketing and Firm Operations. From 1996 until joining NFP, Eric was a regional marketing director at Putnam Investments, focusing on mutual fund, retirement and variable annuity products. He has an economics degree from the University of Colorado and a Master of Business Administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business.

Kim leads the Human Resources (HR) team, which creates, implements and supports NFP’s administrative and strategic employee programs, as well as ensures that NFP attracts, engages and retains top talent. With more than 25 years of HR strategic oversight experience, she partners with business leaders to continuously ensure that the programs empower NFP employees to live their healthiest, most fulfilling and well-rounded lives within a people-first culture. She also leads a revenue-based HR consulting team that provides companies personalized HR solutions. Kim joined NFP through an acquisition of a benefits brokerage and HR consulting company that she co-owned, bringing in her expertise on the private equity world of benefits consulting and high-level HR design. Prior to NFP, Kim worked with large companies like GE, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, MCI, Equity Residential and Icahn Enterprises. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in business management from the University of Phoenix and an Associate of Arts in computer science from Edison College.
Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
Mark spearheads technology advances that support the evolution of NFP. His highly specialized team develops and standardizes technology across the company, driving economies of scale and better client support. He also protects NFP employees and clients with best-practice cybersecurity solutions and elevates common technology practices and systems into intelligent client-facing technology tools. Prior to NFP, Mark served as vice president of Professional Services and Support at Resolution EBS, program manager and regional delivery lead at GTECH, director of Consulting at Trilogy Software and manager at Andersen Consulting. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in operations management and management information systems from Texas A&M University.
President, NFP Life Solutions and PartnersFinancial
Mike charts the course for NFP’s PartnersFinancial, leading all sales, marketing, member services, lead generation and recruiting efforts for our remarkable membership organization while simultaneously driving the strategic direction and expansive capabilities of our life insurance division. Joining us in 2006 as senior vice president of PartnersFinancial’s Business Development team, Mike is instrumental in aligning the organization’s business guidelines with its vision and culture and ensuring the organization’s success. Before joining the NFP family, he served at John Hancock Financial Services for over 14 years, where he was integral in building a thriving relationship between John Hancock and NFP. Mike received his Bachelor of Science from American International College.

Evan is the principal legal advisor to NFP’s senior management on the company’s strategic and tactical legal initiatives. He’s also responsible for overseeing NFP’s legal, compliance and risk management functions. With NFP since 2006, Evan leads our legal department, which works on all aspects of major transactions and acquisitions to help maximize growth, mitigate risk and make sure we maintain and expand our robust compliance offerings. Before joining NFP, Evan began his career as a mergers-and-acquisitions attorney for Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, followed by work as a private equity and mergers-and-acquisitions associate at Goodwin Procter. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania and law school at New York University.

Carl and his highly experienced Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) team are dedicated to expanding NFP through acquisitions of firms that strengthen and scale our operations nationally and internationally. As the entry point for all new acquisitions, he ensures that they are economically and culturally a fit, with values that reflect NFP’s personal commitment to every employee and client. From prospecting, transactions and negotiations to closing and integration, he and his M&A professionals work to actively enhance NFP service offerings while positioning the company for future growth opportunities. Over the past four years, Carl has led more than 40 property and casualty acquisitions, bringing the division’s revenue from $40 million to well over $200 million, and providing clients with a whole new range of products. Prior to NFP, he guided M&A efforts at Ernst & Young LLP and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. He graduated from Syracuse University’s Martin J. Whitman School of Management and holds a Master of Business Administration from Fordham University.

Brett leads the financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, tax, treasury, investor relations and internal audit divisions of NFP. He’s key in managing the capital structure of the company and is active in its debt-raising activities. As a strategic partner to executives across NFP, Brett provides guidance to growth initiatives that result in new capabilities throughout the organization. Prior to joining NFP, he was an audit manager at KPMG. Brett holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus, and is also a CPA in the state of New York.
